Palm Springs!!

Apologies for things being a wee bit quiet here on the old blog.  We took advantage of my husband's mini-break from work and went to Palm springs for a few days.  It was such a nice little getaway.  We loved lounging by the pool at our hotel, riding bikes down residential streets and checking out the AMAZING architecture and visiting the mid-century modern furniture stores.  And we managed most of these activities with Iggy in tow.  I love how dog-friendly California is!

*why is it that waiters always assume that ribs are for men and not women???

Birthday

On the morning of my birthday,  my lovely husband made me breakfast (after a quick snuggle with our dog ofcourse!)  Later in the evening we went to Firefly in Studio City for an amazing dinner and then to a friend's house for Christmas cocktails.  It was a fun day.  I even tried spiked eggnog (please remember I'm from Australia) and now I know for next time if anyone asks if I would like some, the answer is NO!

Thanksgiving Thursday

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving.  I just spent a quiet day with my husband and pooch hiking in Solstice Canyon, baking gluten-free white chocolate and macadamia cookies, watching old movies on netflix and cooking a scrumptious dinner of duck breast in plum sauce with garlic mash and string beans.  I love my days with my little family.

Where's Winifred?

I imagine that if Waldo and Wenda had a daughter she'd look something like this, she is a much better dresser than her parents.

A Little Drifter named Micaela

Last week I had the pleasure of meeting the lovely Micaela of The Drifter and the Gypsy.  We went to a couple of galleries, had a cup of tea and did a spot of (window!) shopping.  She is a total sweetie.  Thanks for the wonderful day!

Friday Bake Day

When I was in Australia I picked up a copy of The Australian Women's Weekly "little squares and slices".  The book was so pretty and filled with such delightful recipes I just had to buy it (even though I'm not much of a baker).  And so,  today I gave it a go and made a Strawberry and Almond Friand.  And it is DELICIOUS! Woot woot!

Our New Best Friend

Meet Iggy - she is a french bulldog and a couch potato.  She is almost 18 months old, pulls funny faces and has a very sweet temperament.  She is also a little naughty and needs more training.  We love her to bits!

Holiday Update No.4 and a Gal in Black

I'm back in LA and recovering from the crazy, long plane ride.  Melbourne and Tassie were so much fun and it was sad to say goodbye to my loved ones again.  As much as we can skype each other, nothing beats a gathering with your closest people accompanied with food, drinks and loads and loads of hugs.  But anyway...here's some more snaps from Launceston, Tasmania.

 1. Evandale Market 2. Pretty Royal Albert tea cups 3. Super kitsch Bambi teapot and sugar bowl 4. Grumpy men 5. View from plane 6. Cadbury chocolate (is so much better in Australia)

I love these guys!

My husband's best friend and his best gal came to LA for a visit.  It was so much fun having them around and it's sad to say goodbye...well, not too sad because we'll be seeing them again when we go back to Oz for a visit in three weeks time, woo hoo!  But still...

Frenchie Wish

My husband and I are finally ready for a new addition to our family - a French bulldog puppy!  I've been researching like crazy and talking to alot of breeders.  Now it's playing the waiting game til a suitable pup is available, which is frustrating because I can be a little impatient but it'll be worth it because when it does happen I know we'll be getting a healthy puppy with a great temperament, aw!

Retired Fang Necklace

A belated thank you to Twilight for the early retirement of my much loved fang necklace (circa 2007 by Australian label P.A.M) I only wore you for a year before you became a symbol for the love of a soppy, adolescent and somewhat addictive vampire trilogy.

In memoriam

I recently finished this drawing for my mother-in-law of her beloved pooch Minnie aka Min.  Min was the sweetest, most darling little dog ever with breath so incredibly bad it rivaled end-of-day fish market!  We miss you everyday.

Bertie

Meet Bertie.  She loves to embroider and collects vintage cross stitch cat cushions. Please don't assume that she is dowdy because of her name and this information - she is actually quite the firecraker!
